You pool cues can get sticky with constant use. The oils from your hand, along with chalk and dust can build up on your cues and make them dirty. It is important that you regularly clean your pool cues so that they don’t get damaged permanently. Besides, having your own cues is an investment and you have to protect them so that they will last longer. Keeping them in good shape can also get you to always stay on top of your game.
After each billiard game, you need to wipe off all the oils and chalk dust that you have introduced to your cues. By using a piece of cloth, wipe down the cue shaft thoroughly. You may use a damp cloth but make sure that you completely dry your cues off so that no moisture is left that can cause your cue shafts to weaken and warp.
For a more effective cleaning, you may need to buy some billiard supplies. These billiard supplies consist of pool cue smoother and burnisher. They can get your cues cleaned and preserved with much care.
The cue smoother is wrapped around the base of the cue shaft. Then it is gently moved up along the length of the shaft ensuring that little pressure is applied. Repeat the process until you are fully satisfied with the smoothness of your cue shaft. Once it is smooth, you can then use the cue burnisher. Wrap the leather burnisher around the pool cue then with moderate pressure work your way up and down the shaft. Keep doing it until you get a perfectly looking finish.
